Journalism. Art. Creative Documentary. Jocelyn Frank focuses on the ways that personal stories can connect cultures near and far. She's produced and reported internationally for National Public Radio and BBC Radio 4 and helped to develop and launch the successful UK-facing BBC Radio program Americana.
Frank is a managing facilitator of the D.C. Listening Lounge - a collective of audio artists and enthusiasts who meet monthly to share work, curate installations and lead workshops for artists and scholars across the Washington D.C. region.
She is the recent recipient of an Awesome Foundation grant to help fund the creation of a Sound Garden to enhance an under-appreciated area of the District of Columbia through sound.
In addition, Jocelyn Frank is the creative director and managing producer for Voices of Health. The multi-stage project engages HIV positive residents across the nation's capital to share and record their personal "stories of diagnosis," in an effort to diminish the stigma and reduce the sense of isolation that can come with a change in health status. Voices of Health is supported in part by the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
